Boston’s Favorite Team: Team Ibex

Thumbnail image for Ibex1.jpgThe Red Sox. The Bruins. The Celtics. The Patriots. The Newbury Street Ibex Team. Okay, we may not have the “most” googled team in Boston, but the players’ on Team Ibex certainly warrant some super fandom. They are highly trained technicians in the art of Merino wool; they are passionate outdoorspeople and little-known Boston savants. They come armed with wit, charm and over-caffeination.

By way of introducing our Boston team, we set up an Ibex-style, verbal Rorschach test. Essentially, we asked rapid-fire questions and the team responded. The only conclusive evidence is that our Boston team is far smarter than our questioner, and Click and Clack carry a lot of Boston influence. We also confirmed our long-held belief that life’s too short to work with unfriendly people: hire the best!

Next time you’re near Newbury Street, in the heart of Beantown, stop by and say hello. Bring chocolate, cheese or chapstick and get 5% off your next purchase.

Meet the Newbury Street Ibex Team:

Liana Hill

  1. 1. For tourists and locals alike: Second to visiting the Ibex store (naturally), what must you do in Boston this fall?  Walk through the parks once the leaves have turned.
  2. 2. Fill in the blank: A day without ______  is like a day without sunshine. Chapstick.
  3. 3. Rate the following Bostonians (or adopted Bostonians) in order of importance/influence: Sam Adams, Click and Clack (the NPR Car Talk guys), Tom Brady, Cy Young. (Bonus: tell us your fave Bostonian.)  Click and Clack, Sam Adams, Cy Young, Tom Brady. Emily Dickinson is one of my local favorites.
  4. 4. If your friends and family were asked what your “catchphrase” is, what would they say? I asked them. My favorite: “I know this sounds like a crazy idea, but…”
  5. 5. When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend to your time? Hiking, biking, baking, body surfing, swimming, singing, sewing, sailing, SCUBA diving.
  6. 6. Favorite Ibex Clothing: Zepher ¾ Janes
  7. 7. Why? The Zepher ¾’s become whatever I need them to become. They are great on a bike, on a run, on a yoga mat, as pajamas, under snow-pants, with a skirt and boots, or with flip-flops!

Alex McLeod

  1. 1. For tourists and locals alike: Second to visiting the Ibex store (naturally), what must you do in Boston this fall? Go visit the harbor seals outside of the aquarium. Also, go find out about the “Smoots” on the Mass Ave Bridge.
  2. 2. Fill in the blank: A day without ______  is like a day without sunshine.  Chocolate
  3. 3. Rate the following Bostonians (or adopted Bostonians) in order of importance/influence: Sam Adams, Click and Clack (the NPR Car Talk guys), Tom Brady, Cy Young. (Bonus: tell us your fave Bostonian.)  Click and Clack, Sam Adams, Tom Brady (I see him running around the back area), Cy Young.
  4. 4. If your friends and family were asked what your “catchphrase” is, what would they say? “Dude!”
  5. 5. When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend to your time? Gymnastics, hiking, kayaking, and beach explorations.
  6. 6. Favorite Ibex Clothing: Hooded Indie
  7. 7. Why? The Hooded Indie basically lives in the bottom of my bag. I pull it out year-round to fend off chilly air conditioning and to be an extra layer between me and my ski jacket.

  6. 6. Favorite Ibex Clothing: Men’s Hooded Indie, Women’s Balance Bralette
  7. 7. Why? The Bralette is easily the most breathable, temperature-regulating sports bra I’ve ever encountered. I love the men’s [version of the] hooded indie because [it’s longer] than the women’s, and it gives my broad shoulders a little more room.

Dave Scull

Hometown: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

  1. 1. For tourists and locals alike: Second to visiting the Ibex store (naturally), what must you do in Boston this fall? Duck Tour. Sure, they’re for tourists, but I live here and still had a blast! [They’re] even better if out of town friends or family are visiting.

(Bonus: tell us your fave Bostonian.)  Click and Clack, of course. Followed by Sam Adams. Cy Young and Tom Brady aren’t from here, so they don’t count as Bostonians. They are pretty alright though, otherwise.
  4. 4. If your friends and family were asked what your “catchphrase” is, what would they say? Don’t think I have one, but taking suggestions.
  5. 5. When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend to your time? Running, mountain biking, motorcycles, travel.
  6. 6. Favorite Ibex Clothing: Seventeen.5 T, Shak Lite ½ Zip and Woolies Boxer Briefs

Thanks, team. We appreciate all you do.
Love, Ibex HQ in Vermont
